The Yarra Valley Railway requires volunteers to run the railway and achieve our future goals. Volunteering can be a very rewarding experience. Skills and knowledge can be gained and friendships can be made. At the same time you are helping to keep our railway heritage alive.
Volunteer roles in the Ways and Works branch include: Track and bridge maintainers, track machine and plant operators and building restoration. Volunteer roles in the mechanical branch include: trolley drivers, train guards, rail motor drivers, diesel locomotive driver, diesel locomotive fireman, station masters and signalmen.
Once the steam locomotive is running again we will also need volunteers in the role of steam locomotive engine cleaner, steam fireman and steam driver. Volunteer roles in organisational branch include: Administration, kiosk, assisting in special events, locomotive and rolling stock information, publicity and marketing.
